10/29/2023 0 Comments Semana 11 (Week 11)¡Buenos días! I hope that our Ray Warriors have enjoyed preparing and eating hispanic dishes for Hispanic Heritage Month these last few weeks! This week we will be reviewing Día de los Muertos and completing activities relating to it. Next week we will return to our usual Skyline lessons.
I enjoyed meeting and speaking with parents and students this past Thursday at Parent-Teacher conferences. This past Saturday morning we had a Cross Country Regionals race at Ogden Park and our Ray Warriors raced incredibly well, I'm so proud of them all! Once I have an official list of who will and will not be advancing to the City Championships this Saturday, November 4th, I will email that out to athletes and their guardians. As of now we have practice per usual Tuesday and Wednesday after school. This will be the final week for cross country until Fall 2024. I encourage all athletes to continue exercising in some capacity over the winter. It can be playing another sport, following a workout video on YouTube or TikTok, or running on a treadmill (with adult supervision). Finally, here is the new Spanish schedule for the second quarter. Make it a great week to be a Ray... 10/9/2023 0 Comments Semana 8 (Week 8)Hello! I hope that everyone is well rested and ready for another wonderful week full of learning!
Next week in my classes we'll be preparing a hispanic dish to celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month! Each class will be preparing a different dish, and spent last week researching different aspects of that dish. I know that the students are as excited as I am for this! Our next cross country race is this Saturday, October 14th at 8:00 AM at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences. I will send out more information later this week via email to all families and athletes on the team. Picture day is this Tuesday, October 10th, and below is a schedule of when each class will take their photos. I can't wait to see how they all look! Make it a great day to be a Ray.... 9/24/2023 0 Comments semana 6 (Week 6)Hello!
I hope that everyone is well rested after a 3-day weekend! We will be continuing to learn about different aspects of Hispanic culture and about famous Hispanic people in all of my Spanish classes. This is to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, culminating in the school-wide assembly to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month as a school. If a student wants to share a certain aspect of their culture (i.e. bring in photos and videos of a relative's or friend's quinceañera and share what it is and how it's celebrated) then they are encouraged to do so. In other news, everyone who ran this past Tuesday at the cross country race did extremely well, including one of our sixth graders placing second in the 5th/6th grade girl's race! The next cross country race is on Saturday, October 14th at 8:00 AM. More information is to come. Practices are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM and we meet in the cafeteria. 9/4/2023 0 Comments Week 3 - Semana 3I hope everyone had an enjoyable 3-day weekend and is ready to come back for some more learning!
I'm writing to update you all on a few things. First, 5th-8th grade students will need a notebook for Spanish class that they can leave in the Spanish classroom. It doesn't matter how big it is or what color it is, as long as it has lined paper and a school-appropriate cover then it's acceptable. My goal with this is that students will be able to watch their growth from now until June and then see how much they accomplished and learned with only 1-2 hours of Spanish class a week. If a student is unable to get a notebook from home then they should let me know so we can work something out. Also, cross country practices begin today, Tuesday, September 4th. Practices will be from 4:00 - 5:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Cross country is open to students in 5th-8th grades and all gender identities. More information will be given out at practice. Students will get a form to bring home for parents to fill out and sign, then the student has to give the form back to Ms. Rivera, our new Athletic Director. If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will respond as soon as I can. Thank you and I hope everyone has a wonderful week back! Welcome back Ray Warriors and families! We're so excited to have everyone back in the classrooms on Monday, August 21st at 8:45 AM! I hope everyone is ready for another wonderful year of acquiring the Spanish language, improving communication skills, and learning about different cultures and customs! Below is the schedule for Spanish classes for the first quarter, as well as the CPS 2023-2024 calendar. I have also included a list of supplies students will need for Spanish class this year. If a student can not obtain any of the supplies then have them or their guardian contact me and I have extra supplies. This year we will primarily be using the Skyline Spanish Curriculum, which I will supplement with extra cultural materials. All GoogleSlides and Lesson Plans will be updated weekly on the "Lesson Plans and Presentations" tab on my website. Cross country will begin in September, and I will update everyone via GoogleClassroom and on here in a few weeks when I have more information on that. As a reminder, cross country is open to 5th - 8th grade students in good academic and behavioral standing. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will do my best to respond within 48 hours. Let's make it a great year to be a Ray.......! Supply List:

We've been hard at work in Spanish class these last few weeks so here's a review of what we've done and what we'll be learning in these next few weeks before Winter Break. K-2nd grade has been learning how to greet and introduce themselves to others along with the alphabet in Spanish. They will continue reviewing the alphabet in Spanish the next few weeks as well as learning about winter holiday traditions in hispanic countries. 3rd and 4th grade have been learning the same thing as K-2nd grade, but they've also been learning the difference between Señorita, Señora, and Señor along with days of the week and months of the year in Spanish through fun songs and dances! They will learn about winter holiday traditions in hispanic countries beginning this week. 5th-8th grade have been learning vocabulary for clothing and colors in Spanish these past few weeks, which is culminating in a creative Fashion Design project which they began last week and will finish this week. Once they finish they will begin learning about winter holiday traditions in hispanic countries. Keep up the great work Ray Warriors! 11/14/2022 0 Comments Parent-teacher conferences¡Buenas tardes!
